More accent plants

Forgoten project

I would like to introduce you to a project which started in 2009 when I found this mugo. At first I did not think much of it and took it just because I didn't find anything else.

Because I never took any time to think what to do with it I lent it to Hans van Meer for a demonstration when he was in Slovenia.

Final look after the demo with some extra branches for insurence.

After that the tree was resting for another two years. In that time the apex branch died. Good thing I told Hans to leave a few extra branches.
Anyway, this weekend I decided to unwire the tree despite the fact that the wire was not yet bitting into the branches.
As I was taking more attantion to the tree I liked it more and more, so I decided to style it again.

Therefore me and Joze got together to get the job done.

We made an interesting semi-literati pine. It will be repotted next spring.
There is also a possibility to remove the lowest branch and make al literati.

Don't die

Don't worry, the title is a bit too dramatic. :)

One would think that with the beginig of summer bonsai work would come to a halt. On the contrary! You have to always maintain your bonsai. For example at this time I had to thin out the foilago on some maples. If I didn't do that, some inner branches could die off, because of lack of light.

Also I had to cut back all the new growth on my conifers.

Visit from Austria

This weekend I had a visit from Austria from two bonsai friends. We know each other for quite some time now. I visited Jochan two years ago and now was he's turn to return the visit.

High water

This weekend I went to the austrian international exhibition near Salzburg. It was placed in a nearly 500 lear old salt storage-house. It was situated on an island on a river.

The good exhibition sadly had to be stopped on Sunday morning because of extremely bad weater. It was raining cats and dogs for a few days, so the river was starting to rise. Therefore we had to quickly take our trees and evacuate the place.

After later conversations I found out some people were traped on the island.

My chinese juniper.

The juniper of Tomaz Kovsca.

A great cascade by Roland Petek.

As we left the river was very high already.
