Busy one year

It is a busy year behind my big hornbeam. After I shorthened it a year earlier, in 2009 and then dug out last spring, I finally begun working on it. It all started with primary branch selection, continued with the carving of the stump and ended with wiring.

The work on the deadwood is far from being finished. I will continue with the work on it next year. Then it will be dry and it will be much easier for detailed work.

At the end I applied some cut paste on the wounds.

Fantastic root flare. How long did it take to dig?

Yes the nebari is amazing on this tree. That was the main reason for the digging, which took me a little more than one hour.
