I hawe seen this technique in a Bonsai Focus magazine before. It was done on a fig. Sadly I don't know the name ant I don't think there is any !? It sure is a wery long term proyect, but if it works well, the result can be fantastic. If you ever have the chance, see it in Bonsai Focus issue #99.
Hey I was looking at your maple and I was thinking (I just got a young (still green) maple as a present but I don't know any good techniques that are good with maples, what I am trying to ask is what are the best techniques of growth and development o a youn a still green maple?)

Just as for the other trees. Wire while the branch is stil soft.

The problem with my new maple material is that it's very strait and I am not sure if it will look good as a strait tree
Wire and bend it. But if it's too thick, then there is no better solution.

Can't it's thick enough to break but do you think that if it's well trained it will look good as a formal upright??
