Juniper day

Today, once again I drove to Jože where we worked on he's trees. This time only on junipers.
At first we worked on a squamata juniper with an interesting live vean twisting around the trunk.

After we worked on a chinese juniper. Sadly this variety makes only a more messy crown, but with plucking and taking good care of it it is possible to make a compact one.

Looks like true spring is still out of sight.

New cascade

Today was time to work on a tree of my own, which was a mountain pine.
At first the general idea was to form a compact slanting bonsai, but after closer inspection it was clear that it woulod be better to make a cascade beacause ob the base of the tree and the floww of the bigger roots.

Sadly a big part of the trunk turned out to be dead. But maby this will make an even better bonsai at the end

My working place at the moment.

The buds are already swelling so it is time to style.

New bonsai season

The new bonsai season has officially begun. Everything has started to grow and is ready to be styled or repotted. Today I went to my friend Jože where we worked on some of he's trees.

First we worked on a difficult Ligustrum.

There will be much more work needed in the future, but the foundation is set. All he has to wait for are new buds. Saddly I have not taken a photo after the tree got wired.

Next was a Prunus mahaleb.

This is surelly one of his best trees and will get better and better as the years pass.

And now it is snowing again...
